Week 10 Game Review

FINAL SCORE: TIGERSHARKS 24 VS THUNDERCATS 23

THUNDERCATS (5-5) TIGERSHARKS (5-5)

Spangler’s 14 points propel Tigersharks past Thundercats, 24-23.

The victory is the third consecutive win for the Tigersharks who return to .500 with just 3 games remaining in the fall 2015 season.

With heavy rain falling for most of the afternoon Saturday, things would only get gloomier for the Thundercats as Alex Spangler (11G, 3A) and the Tigersharks delivered the Cats its third consecutive loss in just three weeks.

The Cats led 9-7 at the half due in large part to midfielder Jake Goodwin (8G, 1A) who tallied 5 goals in the first half, finishing the game with an impressive 9 points. The Sharks would continue to counter with Spangler, Zach Goodnough (5G), and Sean Pearce (2G, 1A) each providing a pair of goals to keep the game within two.

And like the previous two weeks of play, the second half would again belong to the Tigersharks. The Thundercats decision to play man-to-man over zone defense seemed to play directly into the hands of Spangler who would score 9 goals in the second half. Overall, the Cats could not match the Sharks’ well-rounded offensive unit with six players (Spangler, Goodnough, Pearce, Barton, Zanner, and Dixson) scoring 2 or more goals despite a strong showing by Cats goaltender Curtis Wang (6 saves). The Sharks defense also came up big with returning long stick defenseman Victor Ho holding Cats attackman Doug Delange to just 2 goals following a 7-goal performance last week.
