Week 2 Game Review

FINAL SCORE: LAXEDOS 11 - LUMBERLAX 9

LAXEDOS (2-0) LUMBERLAX (0-2)

Down but not out

Game Two of the season saw both the Lumberlax and Laxedos severely

diminished, with a record number of players injured and ailing. The

Lumberlax still had a stronger showing with especially the Chinese

players stepping up to the plate. The game played was therefor a 5 v 5

with limited subs on the sideline, making for an exhausting game.

The first half went clearly to the Laxedos, with a ‘to the net attitude’

by Morgan Banaszek scoring a total of seven goals and one assist for her

team, throughout the game. Down two points (3 -5) at the beginning of

the second half, the Lumberlax were determined to hold off any further

advances and stage a come back. Second season player Callie Stylianou

again showed some strong ball handling skills being essential to the

attack of the Lumberlax.

The last ten minutes of the game was a volley of goals by the Lumberlax

and saw top scorer Zhou Yunjiang, add another three goals to her teams

total. Thanks to strong ball possession of the draw by her teammate Liao

Qing.

Not relenting to the last second the Lumberlax were unable to close the

gap andthe final score was a 11-9 win to the Laxedos.
